New Year and Jeremiah 29:11

Christmas 2016 is over and I am eagerly waiting for the new year! I am excited for what God has in store for me in the coming year in terms of my professional career, ministry, family, friends, and other aspects of my life. But I know they are all good because He is a good God!

I always hold on to one of my favorite Bible verses which is from Jeremiah 29:11 that says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” This is the reason why I am excited!

And with God, His people go from glory to glory. I do not only want to see myself excelling and improving in what I can see and enjoy in the physical realm but more so, in the things that can only be seen in the spiritual. As I continue to behold His glory, I want to be more and more like Him. This is my prayer.

There is a song from Hillsong which has the title “Grace to Grace” which when I studied it, the words became so real and close to my heart because I know this who I am in Him. Let me share some lines from the chorus that go:

How wonderful

How glorious

My Savior’s scars

Victorious

My chains are gone

My debt is paid

From death to life

And grace to grace

The lyrics were straight from the Word of God. Because of what Jesus has done on the Cross, my chains are gone, my debt is paid, and I am transferred from death to life, from darkness to light. Now that I know this truth, Jeremiah 29:11 makes perfect sense to me.

I cannot thank God enough for everything He has done, He is doing, and is going to do in my life. Walking with Him does not guarantee a life that is free from troubles but He, Himself, promised that He will never leave me nor forsake me and that gives me peace and a reason to be excited for the coming year!

And I pray Jeremiah 29:11 over your life, too.
