I Know Who You Are

This is the title of the new song our team is studying. It’s a powerful song from Planetshakers. Our Life Group Session last night was kind of different. Instead of talking about life, we did a “song study” on the song “I know who You are”. Our song study would usually start by reading aloud the lyrics of the song. While we were reading the lyrics, the Lord impressed in my heart, as a Worship Leader, it is important for me to know who He is – His attributes and character. Only then I can lead the congregants into His presence.

While doing the song study, our Life Group Leader asked us, having known God ourselves, what was that instance that made us realize that we indeed know God. In our exchange of conversation, several Bible verses came up.

Psalms 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in His way.”

This verse came out from one of our Life Group members. He said since knowing God, his ways are now different – his behavior, the way he talks, the way he lives his life. It’s all different.

Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

When it was my turn to share my testimony, I shared what I have experienced last 2012 when the call center I was working for has shut down its operations. I was already leading worship then and actively serving the Lord. In one of those times I was leading worship, the enemy was teasing me and saying “Is this the God that you serve? See, He has allowed you to be jobless and now you are still serving Him?”  And I told the enemy, “sit and be my guest and watch me how I will serve the Lord regardless of what I am going through!”

I have that courage to say to the enemy’s face those words for I know the God I serve! He is my Provider. And He can turn things for my own good!

Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”

And this is what I did. Every day, I would confess who God is in my life. Lo and behold, it did not take long before a new and better opportunity came knocking at my door!

Hallelujah!

Thank You, Lord, for allowing me to know You and it is my prayer that I get to know You more. Reveal Yourself to me in a deeper way, in Jesus’ name I pray.
